KVilleTenting is a group manager app for Duke Universitys annual tenting tradition in preparation for the Duke vs UNC Mens basketball home rivalry game. Each year 1000+ students form groups and tent for 6 weeks in the famed Krzyzewskiville in order to obtain a student section ticket for the coveted rivalry game. Students are required to work with their groups, organizing the members’ schedules, to designate time shifts for individuals in their tent to be present in the tent to meet participation requirements for the duration of the tenting season. The KVilleTenting app makes this process easier and helps students manage their schedules.
Features of KVilleTenting include:
- Group Manager: create an interactive group of 12 for tenting; each user in group can see and manage other members in the group
- Automatically create optimized, editable schedules on a week-by-week basis based on given availability by each member. The schedule builder focuses on fairly distributing equal hours to each member of the tent. After the schedule is built, designated members can edit the schedule to meet any further preferences or changes throughout the week.
- The app displays individualized schedules for each user, giving their assigned shifts and total assigned hours in the tent for the week
- Utilizes location service to establish geofencing around Krzyzewskiville boundaries: used to indicate which members are currently in the tent (Krzyzewskiville)
